I’ve been working on the outline for a new story inspired by recent events. I don’t have a title yet, but it will be a dystopian novel (as if we didn’t have enough of them already) set in the year 2184. It’s six generations after the world fell off the path and took a definite turn for the worse. The middle class is gone. There’s only the rich who live in luxury in pristine cities and the poor folk that scrape by in the slums. A young leader has risen up with a burning desire to lead the people to revolution. She has a vision of a future of freedom and equality, but is having trouble attracting followers. The world is complicated, and the rich have entrenched themselves for so long in the deep fabric of society, that it’s hard to find a way to change much of anything. As it turns out, the rich and the poor have gotten comfortable can’t imagine any other world. But big changes are coming anyway. . .
